Introduction to Hacking Email or any Website Accounts - Beginners Please Read

Ok now that you have my attention : Please read this guide that will burst your bubble, beginner hackers. I am sorry for that.


You CANNOT hack emails or websites with just one or two clicks with some email hacking apps. You need to have proper information about the person that you are hacking. If you see sites that claim that they can hack email accounts within minutes and charge hundreds of dollars for it, just laugh at them and move on. Do not waste money on them as they will be just scamming you.

There are two ways to hack Accounts of a Website.

Client Side Hacking

This method can be done depending what you choose. Client side hacking is basically hacking the person's pc and extract information. Antiviruses will detect the apis, assemblies, etc and prevent you from infecting them. In this case you need

1) Keylogging : This basically taps all the keystrokes that users type. When user types password you get it. The victim requires to execute the keylogger "server" file in order to be infected.

2) Password Stealing : Here you steal password saved on user's pc. Browsers often save passwords to provide quick login to the user, but this can be harmful sometimes. Here same as keyloggers you need to execute a file on client pc. You can use combination of keylogger and password stealers, such as my Emissary Keylogger/Stealer.

3) Cookie Stealing : Here you are stealing cookies of the user. Cookies can be used to auto login as they hold information about the account.

4) Remote Administration Tools : These tools are very dangerous and give you full control of a computer. You can view webcams, desktops live, transfer and download files.

5) Social Engineering : Social Engineering is nothing but fooling someone to download your malware or extracting sensitive information from them.
One of the methods is this : Hacking Accounts through SE.


6) Phishing Attacks : Phishing is creating fake login pages similar to that of a website's login page and then fooling the person to enter their username and password into the login box. The triggered php scripts shall send the entered passwords to your log file.

7) Zombies/Bots : This is like keylogging and pass stealing if victim executes your malware he she can be infected with a bot. A bot will connect them to your irc channel or host server and make them your "Zombie". You can do whatever you want with them.

That covers the client part.


Server Side Hacking


1) Exploiting : Exploiting means finding a vulnerability and using it to your advantage. There are various publically disclosed vulnerabilities and exploits that you can simply search on google and HC. There are ways to exploit a server the most common ones are

1) XSS Cross Site Scripting,
2) RFI, LFI
3) Uploading Shells
4) SQL Injections
5) CSRF
6) Gaining Root Access to websites hosted on the same server and then intruding another site on the server.
7) Using Scripts to gain information known as Exploits.

These methods are very vast and cannot be explained in a few lines so I am not explaining them in this guide.


2) Bruteforce Attack : Bruteforcing is using a bruteforcer software to try combinations of words, numbers and symbols to fetch the login of your victim. But this rarely works and you need to have a powerful computer.

3) Reverting Accounts : Here we are fooling the website servers that we are the authorized user and we are the holder of an account. One of this vulnerability exists in Hotmail and existed in Facebook. Users just supplied some information about the clients such as last accessed ip address, contacts on contact list, date of birth, location, etc. With a bit of SE its not that hard to extract such information from the client.

Intrusion Detection System (IDS)


>>Intrusion Detection System (IDS): 

A system that tries to identify attempts to hack or break into a computer system or to misuse it. IDSs may monitor packets passing over the network, monitor system files, monitor log files, or set up deception systems that attempt to trap hackers.

Computer systems have become more vulnerable to intrusions than ever. Intrusion Detection is a security technology that allows not only the detection of attacks, but
 also attempts to provide notification of new attacks unforeseen by other
 components. Intrusion detection is an important component of a security system, 
and it complements other security technologies.

>>How does an IDS work?

While there are several types of IDSs, the most common types work the same. 
They analyze network traffic and log files for certain patterns. What kind of 
patterns you may ask? While a firewall will continually block a hacker from connecting to a network, most firewalls never alert an administrator. 

The administrator may notice if he/she checks the access log of the firewall, but 
that could be weeks or even months after the attack. This is where an IDS comes
into play. The attempts to pass through the firewall are logged, and IDS will analyze its log. At some point in the log there will be a large number of request-reject 
entries. An IDS will flag the events and alert an administrator. The administrator 
can then see what is happening right after or even while the attacks are still taking place. This gives an administrator the advantage of being able to analyze the techniques being used, source of attacks, and methods used by the hacker.

>>Following are the types of intrusion detection systems :-

1)Host-Based Intrusion Detection System (HIDS): Host-based intrusion detection 
systems or HIDS are installed as agents on a host. These intrusion detection systems can look into system and application log files to detect any intruder activity.

2)Network-Based Intrusion Detection System (NIDS): These IDSs detect attacks by capturing and analyzing network packets. Listening on a network segment or 
switch, one network-based IDS can monitor the network traffic affecting multiple 
hosts that are connected to the network segment, thereby protecting those hosts. Network-based IDSs often consist of a set of single-purpose sensors or hosts placed 
at various points in a network. These units monitor network traffic, performing local analysis of that traffic and reporting attacks to a central management console.

 >>Some important topics comes under intrusion detection are as follows :-

1)Signatures: Signature is the pattern that you look for inside a data packet. A signature is used to detect one or multiple types of attacks. For example, the 
presence of “scripts/iisadmin” in a packet going to your web server may indicate 
an intruder activity. Signatures may be present in different parts of a data packet depending upon the nature of the attack.

2)Alerts: Alerts are any sort of user notification of an intruder activity. When an IDS detects an intruder, it has to inform security administrator about this using alerts. 
Alerts may be in the form of pop-up windows, logging to a console, sending e-mail and so on. Alerts are also stored in log files or databases where they can be viewed later on by security experts.

3)Logs: The log messages are usually saved in file.Log messages can be saved 
either in text or binary format.

4)False Alarms: False alarms are alerts generated due to an indication that is not 
an intruder activity. For example, misconfigured internal hosts may sometimes broadcast messages that trigger a rule resulting in generation of a false alert. 
Some routers, like Linksys home routers, generate lots of UPnP related alerts. To 
avoid false alarms, you have to modify and tune different default rules. In some 
cases you may need to disable some of the rules to avoid false alarms.

5)Sensor: The machine on which an intrusion detection system is running is also called the sensor in the literature because it is used to “sense” the network.


>>SNORT:  

Snort is a very flexible network intrusion detection system that has a large set of pre-configured rules. Snort also allows you to write your own rule set. There are several mailing lists on the internet where people share new snort rules that can counter the latest attacks.

Snort is a modern security application that can perform the following three functions :

* It can serve as a packet sniffer.
* It can work as a packet logger.

* It can work as a Network-Based Intrusion Detection System (NIDS).

CrowdRE – Crowdsourced Reverse Engineering:
The CrowdRE project aims to fill this gap. Reverse Engineering


Reverse-engineering is especially important with computer hardware and software. Programs are written in a language, say C++ or Java, that's understandable by other programmers. But to run on a computer, they have to be translated by another  program, called a compiler, into the ones and zeros of machine language. Compiled   code is incomprehensible to most programmers, but there are ways to convert    machine code back to a more human-friendly format, including a software tool          called a decompiler.

Reverse-engineering is used for many purposes: as a learning tool; as a way to make new, compatible products that are cheaper than what's currently on the market; for making software interoperate more effectively or to bridge data between different operating systems or databases; and to uncover the undocumented features of commercial products.

Types Of Hackers

Hackers are three types:-
 
1.    White hat hacker
2.    Gray hat hacker 
3.    Black hat hacker

White Hat and Grey Hat Hacker & What is the Real Difference?
 
What is worse, the public is not able to understand terms like grey hat, white hat, Linux OS, or cracker.
However, the truth is that the subculture of the hacker world is more complex than we think. Especially if we consider that, these are very intelligent people.


So, what is ethical hacking white hat and how does it differentiate from grey hackers? The only way to find out is to submerge ourselves in the world of hackers and understand, at least, the most basic concepts. 

  

What Is A White Hat Hacker?
 
A hacker can be a wiz kid who spends too much time with computers and suddenly finds himself submerged in the world of  cyber-security or criminal conspirators. On the other hand, he can be a master criminal who wants to obtain huge amounts of money for him, or even worse, dominate the world.
In the movie Matrix, the concept of hackers changed a bit. Although the agents of the Matrix considered them terrorists, the truth is that they were rebels fighting for the liberty of humanity. Things do not need to reach that extreme, though. We are not at war with intelligent ma chines so that kind of scenario is a bit dramatic.

Therefore, a hacker is an individual who is capable of modifying computer hardware, or software. They made their appearance before the advent of computers, when determined individuals were fascinated with the possibility of modifying machines. For example, entering a determine code in a telephone in order to make free international calls.

 
 When computers appeared, this people found a new realm where they could exploit their skills. Now they were not limited to the constraints of the physical world, instead, they could travel through the virtual world of computers. Before the internet, they used Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) to communicate and exchange information. However, the real explosion occurred when the Internet appeared.

Today, anyone can become a hacker. Within that denomination, there are three types of hackers. The first one is the black hacker, also known as a cracker, someone who uses his computer knowledge in criminal activities in order to obtain personal benefits. A typical example is a person who exploits the weaknesses of the systems of a financial institution for making some money.

On the other side is the white hat hacker. Although white hat hacking can be considered similar to a black hacker, there is an important difference. A white hacker does it with no criminal intention in mind. Companies around the world, who want to test their systems, contract white hackers. They will test how secure are their systems, and point any faults that they may found. If you want to become a hacker with a white hat, Linux, a PC and an internet connection is all you need.



Grey Hat Hackers
A grey hat hacker is someone who is in between these two concepts. He may use his skills for legal or illegal acts, but not for personal gains. Grey hackers use their skills in
order to prove themselves that they can accomplish a determined feat, but never do it in order to make money out of it. The moment they cross that boundary, they become black hackers.
For example, they may hack the computer network of a public agency, let us say, NOAA. That is a federal crime. 

If the authorities capture them, they will feel the long arm of justice. However, if they only get inside, and post, let us say, their handle, and get out without causing any kind of damage, then they can be considered grey hackers.

If you want to know more about hackers, then you can attend one of their annual conventions. Every year, hackers from all over the US, and from different parts of the world, reunite and meet at DEF CON. These conventions are much concurred. In the last one, 6,600 people attended it.

Every year, DEF CON is celebrated at Las Vegas, Nevada. However, hackers are not the only ones who go to this event. There are also computer journalists, computer security professionals, lawyers, and employees of the federal government. The event is composed by tracks of different kind, all of them related, in some way, to the world of hackers (computer security, worms, viruses, new technologies, coding, etc). Besides the tracks, there are contests that involve hacking computers, l ock picking and even robot related events. Ethical hacking, white hat hacking or whatever names you wish to use, at the end, it has a purpose: to protect the systems of organizations, public or private, around the world. After all, hackers can now be located anywhere, and they can be counted by the millions. Soon, concepts like white hat, linux operating system or grey hat will become common knowledge. A real proof of how much has our society been influenced by technology.



Black Hat Hackers

Black hat hackers have become the iconic image of all hackers around the world. For the majority of computer users, the word hacker has become a synonym for social misfits and criminals.
Of course, that is an injustice created by our own interpretation of the mass media, so it is important for us to learn what a hacker is and what a black hacker (or cracker) does. So, let's learn about black hat techniques and how they make our lives a little more difficult.
Black hat is used to describe a hacker (or, if you prefer, cracker) who breaks into a computer system or network with malicious intent. Unlike a white hat hacker, the black hat hacker takes advantage of the break-in, perhaps destroying files or stealing data for some future purpose. The black hat hacker may also make the exploit known to other hackers and/or the public without notifying the victim. This gives others the opportunity to exploit the vulnerability before the organization is able to secure it.

 
What Is Black Hat Hacking?
 
A black hat hacker, also known as a cracker or a dark side hacker (this last definition is a direct reference to the Star Wars movies and the dark side of the force), is someone who uses his skills with a criminal intent. Some examples are: cracking bank accounts in order to make transfernces to their own accounts, stealing information to be sold in the black market, or attacking the computer network of an organization for money.

Some famous cases of black hat hacking include Kevin Mitnick, who used his black hat hackers skills to enter the computers of organizations such as Nokia, Fujitsu, Motorola and Sun Microsystems (it must be mentioned that he is now a white hat hacker); Kevin Poulsen, who took control of all the phone lines in Los Angeles in order to win a radio contest (the prize was a Porsche 944 S2); and Vladimir Levin, which is the handle of the mastermind behind the stealing of $10'000,000 to Citigrou.

BEH Online Ethical Hacking Class : Configure Machine for Hacking


Hey friends, welcome to HackingLoops. Before starting BEH(Born Ethical Hackers) classes we must configure our system or machine for performing hacking tasks. Because performing hacking can cause damage your systems too and also its one of the major step for beginners to know which all tools we need to install on our system to learn Hacking. Below i have provided quick Hacking setup list which will help you to perform Ethical Hacking Lab tasks with ease. So go through them and install below items.

List of Tools need to be pre installed for setting up your system to perform BEH Lab tasks :
1. VMware ( for installing and mounting virtual operating systems).
2. Backtrack or Matruix OS Linux Live Disk or Operating system which need to be mounted on  VMware.
3. Installing servers :
a. IIS for windows based servers.
b. Apache Tomcat.
c. MySQL workbench.
d. Wamp for running PHP codes.
4. Microsoft Visual Studio ( full package with XML spy)
5. IDA pro
6. Swf Flash Decompiler
7. Olydbg
8. VB Decompiler 
9. Filezilla FTP client
10. Resource Hacker
11. NMAP
12. Wireshark
13. Mozilla Firefox with Firebug or Google Chrome or IE8 + 

The above is the mandatory list that you must have before performing Hacking stuff.

The other tools we will discuss on regular basis with our hacking classes. I hope you all will be able to install these tools on your machine. You might face problem in doing so, i am ready to help you out. If you have any issues while installing these or any problem in configuring those, feel free to ask.
